Speaker:   Karoline Draper MSN, RN, VA-BC

Karoline graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She followed with a Masters in Nursing from Rush University. Her career started in the Emergency Department at a 450-bed medical center in Downtown Chicago. It was during this time serving a diverse patient population, including IV drug users and dialysis patients. Karoline began her journey as a vascular access specialist.  Witnessing patients being used “pin cushions” and receiving multi-sticks lead to her mission, that no one would be admitted without appropriate vascular access. Becoming proficient in ultrasound led her to find her passion on the hospital’s PICC team. After a few years of PICC experience, Karoline transitioned to a Clinical Specialist position for Access Scientific and earn her VA-BC. Her experience as an Educator allowed her to introduce novel, innovative products to the marketplace. Her role allows her to evaluate a facility’s educational needs and leverage clinical expertise to enhance practice and minimize vascular access complications to improve patient outcomes.
